'We Are Blood' Donation Site In North Austin Poised For Halloween
The life-giving attributes of real blood at the forefront of a blood bank promotion encouraging donations amid celebration of the macabre.
AUSTIN, TX — Fake blood will, as always, figure prominently as people prepare for Halloween this year. But real blood is at the forefront of a We Are Blood promotion designed to encourage donations while getting in on the annual celebration of the macabre.
To that end, the North Lamar Donor Center has been converted into a Hocus Pocus-themed photo op. Throughout this month, donors can take photos near the fireplace of potions, beside Billy Butcherson's grave or — if you dare, muah ha ha — near the black flame candle.
Fans of the cult classic movie "Hocus Pocus" will avail themselves of a lighthearted way to celebrate the holiday with the Sanderson Sisters, all while contributing to the Central Texas blood supply.

It's sure to be ghoulish fun, but the life-saving mission is at the heart of the matter. We Are Blood officials noted the donor site will otherwise operate as normal with appointments available online. In that same vein (pun intended), walk-ins are always welcome.
We Are Blood serves over 40 medical facilities in its 10-county region, including both the local Ascension Seton and St. David’s hospital systems.
