But this is no Honey Boo Boo forum where a precocious child is able to trade on her brand of wit alone. Au contraire: The competition includes a question-and-answer session to test participants' awareness of issues.
Other traditional pageant staples -- namely a swimsuit and talent portion of the competition -- are not featured in the Pflugerville version. But there's that Q&A part, remember.
The first mandatory parent-and-child meeting ahead of the contest is scheduled on April 16 at 2 p.m. at the Pflugerville Recreation Center. There is no cost to enter in the competition.
The event will be staged at the Pflugerville Recreation Center, 400 Immanuel Road, on May 14 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
The top three winners in each age category will be in the Deutschen Pfest parade on Saturday, May 21. The lucky handful will participate in community activities that would include a princess story time at the library and volunteering at the Pfarmers Market. Sign up to participate here.
And start practicing that distinct, pivoting, punctuated half-wave as you greet your adoring fans at mass gatherings.
