Battleship Texas Closed After Huge Hole Found In Ship’s Hull
Repair crews spent 15 hours pumping water from the ship so repairs could be made early Monday.
LA PORTE, TX — The Battleship Texas will be closed unter further notice after crews discovered a hole in the ship’s hull Sunday afternoon.

Crews spent 15 hours pumping 2,000 gallons of water per minute from the iconic battleship before the leak could be patch early Monday, KPRC reported.

The Battleship Texas, which saw action in two world wars, has been docked at the San Jacinto Battleground since being decommissioned in the late 1940s and permanently moored in Buffalo Bayou.

In November 2016, the monument was closed when managers noticed the hull was taking on water and repairs were made that allowed the Battleship monument to reopen before Thanksgiving
Meanwhile, the ship will remain closed while crews check for other leaks in the hull.
