Baytown Police Officer Indicted On Felony Bribery Charge
Officer is accused of offering to dismiss two traffic tickets for an 18-year woman in exchange for nude pictures of her

BAYTOWN, TX — A Baytown Police officer who offered to dismiss several traffic tickets for an 18-year old woman if she sent him nude pictures of herself, has been indicted on bribery charges.
Michael Coppock, 33, a nine-year veteran of the Baytown Police Department was suspended from the police department on May 17. (Want to get daily updates about traffic news and other events going on in your area? Sign up for the free Houston Patch morning newsletter.)
On March 28, Coppock stopped an 18-year old woman on Massey-Tompkins Road for speeding and an expired vehicle registration.

Sometime after the ticket was issued, the woman alleged that Coppock sent her several text messages offering to dismiss the tickets of she sent him nude photos of herself.

The Baytown Police Department learned of the allegations in March and launched an internal investigation on April 17.
On May 23, the results of the investigation were presented to a Harris County grand jury, who indicted Coppock on second degree felony bribery charges, KTRK reported.
If Coppock is convicted, he could spend the next 20 years in prison.
