Road Raging Baytown Woman Faces Felony Charges

Amanda Downs is accused of pointing a gun at motorists in two road rage incidents on Highway 225 last summer.

LA PORTE, TX — A Baytown woman accused of pointing a gun at motorists during two road rage incidents earlier this year is in jail.

Amanda Downs, 25, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault for road rage incidents motorist reported in July and August on State Highway 225.

Downs is currently being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.

The last incident happened on Aug. 2, and was caught on cell phone video, which showed Downs pointing what looked like a handgun at a motorist.

The witness told police that he was with his son, and that Downs who was driving a red Chevy Silverado pickup, was tailgating and weaving left and right behind him.

The witness said that Downs pulled around and drove next to him, and pointed a gun at him and his son before cutting him off and brake-checking him, KPRC reported.

Police were notified and went to Downs’ home to question her.

Police said she admitted to both incidents and provided officers with a folded knife, which resembled a handgun.

Downs is due back in court on Jan. 3.
