Deer Park to Build New City Hall

The new building will be funded with bonds and will replace a 40 year old building needing extensive repair

DEER PARK, TX -- The Deer Park City Council has agreed to build a new city hall to replace the 40-year old building that’s currently being used.

The new city hall, which will be on land just east of the current facility, will cost nearly $7 million

City Manager James Stokes said building a new city hall was more cost effective than making the needed extensive repairs.

The project is being funded through bond funds approved by voters in 2000 that were originally allocated for repairs and improvements to the existing city hall.

The remainder of the funding will from the sale of general revenue funds.

Houston-based Cre8 Architects provided architectural designs for the new city hall under an agreement approved by the council last year, and will also supervise the bidding and construction administration of the new city hall

Bids will be advertised for a construction contract, and city officials expect to bring a recommendation to City Council in January.

Once that process is complete, construction is expected to begin within 30 to 60 days.
