BAYTOWN, TX — A domestic disturbance in Baytown turned into a 90-minute police chase that ended in Houston's Museum District Thursday morning.
The tale began at about 7:40 a.m., when Baytown Police received a 911 call from a woman who claimed her husband of just two weeks had threatened her with a gun, and had pistol-whipped her.
When police arrived at the home, the man identified as 42-year old Eric Brown, took off in and SUV leading police officers from two different agencies on a meandering and oft slow-speed chase through morning rush hour along Houston area freeways.

Several times during the chase, Brown would drive slowly, and open the door or roll down the drivers window to show his hands to officers.

Other times, he would stop driving, only to start driving slowly on the freeways again.
Executive Assistant Police Chief Troy Finner said once the chase entered Houston's jurisdiction, they took the lead in trying to get Brown stopped without getting anyone hurt.
"Sometimes in a chase like this where the suspect is slow-rolling, stops the car and then keeps going, I want the citizens to know that time was on our side," Finner said. "We had time and we wanted to just wait it out, because at the end of the day we want everyone to go home safely."
Police pursued Brown until about 9:20 a.m. when the SUV rolled to a stop at State Highway 288 and McGregor Road.
Finner added that during the pursuit, they were told that Brown had a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and was armed, but when Brown was taken into custody, police determined he was not wounded.
Brown was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
He is expected to be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, once he is returned to the custody of Baytown Police.
