Pasadena Competes With Other Communities To Promote Healthier Lifestyle.

The It's Time Texas nonprofit promotes a healthier way of eating and living, and uses competition and education to share their message.

PASADENA, TX -- City and community leaders in Pasadena are taking the challenge to make healthier food choices and they are challenging other communities in Texas to join them

Pasadena is one of nearly 300 Texas communities and working with the It’s Time Texas organization to promote a healthier way of living, with a fun and innovative community challenge.

The It’s Time Texas Community Challenge continues through March 31, and is designed to promote a healthier lifestyle by encouraging better food choices.

The program, which partners with organizations like H-E-B and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, is a 501(c)(3) organization that is geared substantially improving the landscape of health and wellness in Texas.

The organization offers free programs, tools, and services leverage innovative technology to empower Texans to lead healthier lives and build healthier communities.

Participating cities are arranged into five categories based on population,.

The cities with the highest score in the respective category can win a grant for as much as $18,000 to be used for future projects to establish a healthier landscape in their community.

The winning city is also invited to a special ceremony at the state capital.

It’s a program that the Pasadena community feels pretty good about, and took part in for the first time last year.

In fact, Pasadena did pretty well and held a lead for much of the competition, but was edged out by the City of Garland.
