On Monday, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning from 3 a.m. to midnight Tuesday for Trinity, Madison, Walker, San Jacinto, Polk, Burleson, Brazos, Washington, Grimes, Montgomery, Liberty, Colorado, Austin, Waller and Harris counties.
The Houston area was the recipient of about four inches of snow on Dec. 8, but it wasn’t enough to close schools or cause delays.
Although snow accumulation isn’t expected, it’s the threat of ice and the wintry mix that is predicted to hang around from Tuesday through Thursday.
Forecasters indicated that temperatures will begin dropping significantly early Tuesday, and hang around the area for several days.
The wintry mix that’s anticipated will likely began to impact the area late Tuesday into Wednesday, before clearing out early Friday.
