Pasadena Man Stabbed To Death By Random Stranger

Omari Chambers confronted Steven Torrez, and then stabbed him in the leg as Torrez sat outside with his girlfriend Sunday morning

PASADENA, TX — The family of a Pasadena man who was stabbed to death on July 23, has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral.

Steven Torrez, 29, was sitting outside his home with his girlfriend early Sunday morning, when a man who was later identified as Omari Chambers, rode up on his bicycle.

Torrez girlfriend told police that Chambers confronted Torrez for no apparent reason, and the two began arguing.

Afterward, Chambers walked up the steps to the apartment and stabbed Torrez in the leg, and then rode away on his bicycle, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Witnesses told police that Torrez did not know Chambers, according to a KTRK report.

Chambers was arrested by police shortly after the stabbing, and was charged wth aggravated assault.

Torrez was taken to Bayshore Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.

He died late Sunday due to complications from his injury, the Chronicle reported.

Torrez had three children ages 11, 8 and 2 years old.

All three children live in Refugio with their mother.

The charges against Chambers was upgraded to murder.

His bond is set at $150,000.
