Police Arrest Third Man In Alvin Garden Center Killing

Santos Batello was captured at his home as he tried to run from police, and rammed a police car

ALVIN, TX — The third suspect who was wanted in the shooting death of a garden center caretaker Tuesday was arrested Thursday while attempting to flee from police

A police officer fired twice at Batello’s vehicle, shooting out two of his tires, according to a KPRC report.

Batello was able to drive home, and was arrested and taken to the Galveston County Jail.

He is considered a person of interest at this time, police said.

Batello was a third person of interest in the shooting death of 64-year old Pancho Esparza, who was shot multiple times outside Barber’s Nursery in the 3300 block of W. FM 517.

Police arrested 23-year-old Jamie Posada and 21-year-old Ricardo Posada in Houston several hours after the shooting.

Both men, who’ve been charged with aggravated robbery, claimed they were there to commit a burglary.

Their bond is set at $100,000 each.
