Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Angela Miner Will Not Run For Re-Election

Miner won the 2017 Immigrant Spirit Award which recognizes an immigrant civic leader who has contributed substantially to the community.

PLANO, TX -- Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Angela Miner announced Thursday that she will not run for re-election to city council. Miner has served Plano for more than 20 years on PTA boards and as the president of the Plano ISD Council of PTAs, among other roles.

Miner was awarded the Texas PTA Lifetime Achievement and National PTA Lifetime Achievement Awards.

“It was a great honor to serve the people of Plano and our great City. I’m ready to move on to the next chapter of my life, devoting time to my family needs and commitments,” Miner said in a news release.

Miner is also the former president of her HOA, a board member of the Plano ISD Education Foundation, an active member of the Plano Symphony Orchestra Education committee, the Women's Auxiliary of Children’s Medical Center Plano, and Women Making A Difference In Plano.

She was awarded the 2017 Immigrant Spirit Award – which recognizes an immigrant civic leader or elected official who has contributed substantially to the community or the region.
