Harmony Science Academy-Plano Students Advance to National, International Academic Championships

Elementary students from Harmony Science Academy-Plano are headed to national and international academic championships after competing in the Dallas Winter Regional Academic Tournament earlier this month.

More than 100 students from 30 schools participated in the buzzer-based National Science Bee, National History Bee and National Geography Bee, part of the International Academic Competitions program. Students who placed in top ranks or met qualifying benchmarks advanced to the National Championships in Orlando, Florida, with select competitors qualifying for international events.

Fifth grader Aadhiv A. qualified for international competitions in science, history and geography, advancing in all three subjects. He also earned second- and third-place finishes at the regional level.

Additional Harmony students secured second- and third-place finishes and qualified for nationals across multiple subject areas, demonstrating strong academic preparation in science, history and geography.

“These competitions reflect the rigorous, high-quality education our students receive every day,” said Dr. Toycu, principal of Harmony Science Academy-Plano. “We are proud to see them apply their knowledge in a competitive setting and represent our campus with confidence.”

Students described a mix of nerves and excitement as they awaited results.

“I was surprised when I found out I qualified for Nationals,” said Nahom E., a fourth grader. “I couldn’t have done it without my brother’s support.”

“The best part of the weekend was qualifying for International,” said fifth grader Atharva Y. “Now I’m excited for Nationals and going to Florida.”
