• 'Bond we understand': Roanoke community rallies for police officer in critical condition after pursuit, crash (wfaa.com) — Roanoke residents and first responders are rallying to support Corporal Kevin Buchanan, a Roanoke motorcycle officer still in critical condition after a September 20 pursuit and crash near Texas Motor Speedway. A packed fundraiser at Oak Street Cafe and Roanoke Tavern brought neighbors and officers from across North Texas together, offering donations, live music, and encouragement to his family as he slowly improves.
• Freight Sector Job Cuts Hit 1,850 Workers Across 15 Companies (globaltrademag.com) — Roanoke residents employed in the freight sector are among those hit as Eagles Delivery LLC cuts 115 jobs in town, part of about 1,850 freight-related layoffs nationwide. The reductions follow WARN notices and similar closures or cutbacks at delivery and logistics firms across Texas and several other states, signaling ongoing turbulence in the freight economy.
