3 Round Rock Officers To Be Honored For Their Service
100 Club of Texas names them 'Guardian Angel' recipients as part of 35th annual awards, with banquet scheduled May 5.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Three Round Rock officers have been selected for 100 Club of Central Texas awards, officials said Monday.
The 100 Club of Central Texas is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to families of first responders who have been killed or critically injured in the line of duty. They also dole out award recognizing meritorious service among members of law enforcement.
Commander Jim Stuart, Sergeant Darin Bayles, and Officer Mike McCabe were selected as "Guardian Angel" recipients as part of the 35th Annual 100 Club of Central Texas Awards. They will be recognized at an awards banquet on May 5 in Georgetown, Texas.

- In addition to his duties overseeing officer training, recruitment, and animal control, Stuart co-founded the I Can Drum program to teach at-risk youth to play the drums.
- A detective in the Criminal Investigations Division, Bayles was nominated by a widow who appreciated his compassion and diligence when investigating her husband’s suicide.
- McCabe, a school resource officer at Round Rock High School and a member of the Round Rock Police Department Crisis Negotiations team, McCabe was nominated by a representative of Seton Medical Center Williamson for saving a life after applying a tourniquet to a man who accidentally shot himself. He'll be recognized by the hospital's "Stop the Bleed" training scheduled March 29 alongside Officer Chris Wilson, who assisted in the tourniquet application.

“Community outreach, treating victims with respect, and providing medical assistance are things that our Officers engage in every day," Police Chief Allen Banks said in a prepared statement. “Everyone at the Round Rock Police Department does an amazing job for the community. It’s nice to be recognized and these three are definitely deserving.”
The 100 Club of Central Texas recently provided assistance to Round Rock Police Officer Charles Whites, who is still in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle on Feb. 25 as he directed traffic.
