Coronavirus: WilCo Illness Count Crosses 450 Mark
9 more people were diagnosed with respiratory illness one day after three elderly patients succumbed to contagion.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX β The number of coronavirus cases in Williamson County grew by nine in the past 24 hours, bringing to total to 451. The fatality rate was unchanged at 19, with no new deaths reported on Friday.
The updated figures were tabulated by Williamson County and Cities Health District officials on a dashboard that is updated daily. To view more statistical data related to the county, click here.
Amid the sobering statistics on the dashboard, health officials note that 255 people have recovered from illness in the county after having contracted the virus. The positive note was tempered with news of three more deaths reported Thursday β a man and woman in their 90s and a centenarian female patient who also succumbed to illness.

Those three fatalities rose the regional death toll to 19, according to the dashboard data.

"The loss of life in our nursing homes where patients have tested positive for COVID-19 has been devastating," Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said at the time. "As part of the Wilco family, we must take care of our vulnerable population by loving and supporting them at a distance in order to keep them safe."

Those exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness β including cough, fever and shortness of breath β are urged to contact their health care provider. However, health officials stress the importance of calling ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department to avoid potential spread of illness.
