Coronavirus: Williamson County Illness Count Grows To 34

Seven new cases of the respiratory illness were reported by health officials on Friday.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Seven more cases of new coronavirus have been identified in Williamson County, briging the total number of patients to 34, health officials confirmed on Friday.

"At this stage information is very limited, and Williamson County will share more as it becomes available and necessary to protect the health of the public," Williamson County and Cities Health District officials wrote in a prepared statement.

Health officials urged those with symptoms of respiratory illness including cough, fever and shortness of breath, to contact your health care provider. Health officials released the following demographic data related to reported cases to date:

The last line reporting patients who have recovered reflects 6 patients who have since recovered. No deaths have been reported in Williamson and Travis counties to date.

The previous count reported by county health officials on Thursday was 27, which would have brought the current count to 32 rather than 34. Patch has reached out to county officilals to clarify the discrepancy, and will update with their response if given.

Editor's note: On Monday, March 30, a county spokeswoman corrected the number of new cases to 7 rather than 5. The emergence of those cases brought the total number to 34, according to the spokesperson.
