Coronavirus: Williamson County Illness Count Grows To 55

Williamson County and Cities Health District officials said 13 new cases of COVID-19 virus have been confirmed in the past two days.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Five more cases of coronavirus have emerged in Williamson County, officials said Wednesday, bringing the total number of positive diagnoses to 55.

The Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) said additional COVID-19 cases — and any fatalities — would be reported on a dashboard found at www.wcchd.org/COVID-19/dashboard.php. The dashboard is updated just past noon daily, health officials said.

In addition to the growing tally of newly diagnosed patients, the dashboard counts 14 patients who have recoverd from the respiratory ailment. The county also has had one fatality from the pandemic scourge.

Those with symptoms of respiratory illness — including cough, fever and shortness of breath —are urged to contact their health care provider. County health officials noted the importance of calling ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department to avoid potential illness spread.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Health officials on Tuesday said eight new patients have tested positive for coronavirus in Williamson County, bringing the total number of positive cases in the region to 50 — an increase from 42 cases reported on Monday.

Williamson County and Cities Health District officials upgraded the count, providing details on the age ranges and city of residence among those afflicted in a recently created dashboard that is continually updated as more cases emerge. Last week, county health officials recorded the first fatality in the region blamed on the respiratory ailment.

The dashboard can be seen here: www.wcchd.org/COVID-19/dashboard.php. Along with the tally of those newly afflicted, the data show a dozen patients have since recovered from the illness that is spread via respiratory droplets.

Health officials urge those with symptoms of respiratory illness — including cough, fever and shortness of breath — to contact their health care provider. It is important to call ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department to avoid potential spread, health officials added.
