GoFundMe Drive Launched After Round Rock Man's Hit-And-Run Death
Ex-girlfriend of Amir Azad, mother of his child, launches crowdsourcing site to defray funeral and related costs after his Feb. 25 death.

ROUND ROCK, TX — A GoFundMe page has been set up to defray funeral costs and related expenses following the death of a man killed by a hit-and-run driver in Round Rock last week.
Amir Azad wsa found dead along Interstate 35 early Sunday morning on Feb. 25. Police had responded to reports of a pedestrian walking along the highway but Azad had already been struck and killed by the time they arrived. Police continue to investigate the incident, and recently sought help from the public in locating the hit-and-run driver who failed to stop and render aid after striking Azad.
In a narrative by Azad's ex-girlfriend, who's also the mother of their 2-year-old son, Hellen Spears describes the man as "the love of my life, my best friend, my No. 1 supporter but most importantly the father to our beautiful baby, Noah." The couple had ended their romantic relationship four months before Azad's death, Spears wrote, but his lack of insurance has made it difficult to defray costs associated with his sudden death.

She also addressed the unknown motorist who caused Azad's death: "I can’t believe how someone can be so cruel as a human to the two people guy or girl that hit him and didn’t stop. Just know that you took a life of a father from a two yr old boy and I’m going to have to explain that to him one day."
