Round Rock-Based Dell Pulls Ads From Fox

Computer giant joins growing exodus of advertisers following comments by anchor Tucker Carlson labeling white nationalism sentiments a hoax.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Dell has pulled out of advertising its products on the Fox network's "news" offerings, joining a growing list of companies distancing themselves from the network's controversial rhetoric.

Patch reached out to Dell for comment, and received the following statement: "Ad buys and placements are complex, and we assess our advertising on an ongoing basis. While we do advertise on Fox networks, some programming is inconsistent with our values and commitment to diversity and inclusion. We have adjusted our placements accordingly."

As the New York Times reported on on Aug. 20, Fox has experienced an exodus of advertisers largely prompted by recent commentary from anchor Tucker Carlson. The mass exit has taken place over the course of the year as dozens of firms — including Pacific Life, Farmers Insurance and SodaStream and smaller companies such as meditation app Calm and the online lending start-up SoFi — have opted to disassociate themselves from the network.

Carlson prompted widespread outrage with his recent on-air comments on white supremacy days after the mass shooting in El Paso. In response to the shooting by an avowed white nationalist, Carlson labeled the scourge of white supremacy as a hoax. In the past two weeks, smaller companies, like the , joined them.
