Round Rock Eatery To Close Temporarily After People Take Ill

La Margarita, 1530 N. Interstate 35 Frontage Rd.,closes for deep cleaning even while it's unclear their food caused 100 to fall ill.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The restaurant from where a catered meal is suspected of having sickened up to 100 people — including half of the local high school's varsity and junior varsity baseball teams — has closed temporarily while officials there give it a good scrubbing, according to reports.

Earlier in the week, dozens of people fell ill with stomach issues after eating food prepared at the popular La Margarita eatery, a Tex-Mex food restaurant that catered a recent banquet. Although it's not clear the food from La Margarita is the culprit, the general manager told the Austin American-Statesman they would close it in an overabundance of caution for a deep cleaning.

“We take these things very seriously, whether it’s one person getting sick or 100,” the GM told the newspaper. Williamson County Cities and Health District officials also reportedly are investigating the incident.
