Round Rock Police Make Arrest In April Pedestrian Death

Cory Wayne Ferguson, 31, charged in death of Cleveland Deshon Elliiott, 24, while Gabriela Delgado Vela faces evidence tampering charge.

ROUND ROCK, TX —Police have made an arrest in an auto-pedestrian collision that claimed the life of a young man in April, officials said on Friday.

Police said Cory Wayne Ferguson, 31, faces a charge of "accident involving personal injury or death" in connection to a collision that left Cleveland Deshon Elliott, 24, dead. Additionally, Gabriela Delgado Vela has been charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, police said.

The arrest stems from an April 17 collision that occurred at around 1:40 am. near Gattis School Road and Surrey Drive where Elliott was walking along the roadway. Medics transported Elliott to an area hospital after he was struck, officials said, but he succumbed to his injuries that same day.

In a previous press advisory, Round Rock police said the driver responsible for Elliott's death fled the scene. In pursuit of a suspect — while devoid of more substantive clues — the police department released a blurred image of the car that hit Elliott from surveillance camera footage. Police described the vehicle as a blue passenger car without a sunroof and with LED or HID headlights, with an added note it may have post-collision damage to the front or may have been recently repaired.

Police declined to provide further details — including specifics on where the suspects live or booking photos — while citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. "Thank you to the citizens who submitted tips and shared our request for tips," officials added in concluding their advisory.
