UPS Building Job-Creating Distribution Facility In Round Rock
The company will infuse $70 million capital investment in regional expansion moves over the course of five years, chamber officials noted.

ROUND ROCK, TX -- UPS will be building a new distribution facility in Round Rock, creating employment opportunities while infusing a $70 million capital investment over the course of five years, officials said Thursday.
The regional expansion into Round Rock will provide more robust operating capacity in the greater Austin area, officials said. New construction on roughly 50 acres near S.H. 45 and A.W. Grimes Boulevard will fortify the firm's existing distribution network while accommodating future growth, company officials said.
City officials, including Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw lauded the corporate move.

"We are thrilled to welcome UPS to Round Rock," McGraw said in a prepared statement. "As one of the world's largest companies, UPS is an all-around good corporate citizen and is known for its charitable giving, community partnerships, and energy conservation programs. UPS is a company that invests in its employees with a focus on training, education, and work-life balance and is a great addition to our city."
UPS operates an extensive network of facilities around a central package distribution hub in the Austin area, a territory spanning from Belton to San Marcos, Round Rock Chamber officials said.
Headquartered in Atlanta, the company employs more than 440,000 people worldwide. The company manages the flow of goods, funds and information throughout 220 countries and territories.

"This is a great project for Round Rock as we continue to diversify our economy," said Ben White, the chamber's vice president of economic development. "We welcome another Fortune 500 company that is making a significant investment in employment and capital in Round Rock. We are proud that once again, the tremendous partnership between the city, the county, and the chamber has produced a major employer coming to town."
Duff & Phelps, the global valuation and corporate finance advisor, also played a role in luring UPS to Round Rock, the chamber noted in a press advisory. Its managing director, Michael Lateur, expressed gratification about the end result of the negotiations.
"It was an honor and a privilege to work with UPS on such an important project," Lateur said. "Round Rock and Williamson County continue to strategically focus their economic development efforts to benefit the community and this is a direct result of that commitment."
