Bill Miller BBQ Offers Free Meals To Police After San Antonio Officer Dies In Shooting

Restaurant officials said they wanted to show appreciation of law enforcement after Officer Miguel Moreno dies from his injuries.

SAN ANTONIO — In the wake of the death of a policeman after being shot by a suspect on Thursday, Bill Miller BBQ is offering a free dine-in meal Friday for all law enforcement officers, according to local media reports.

Officials at the San Antonio-based chain of barbecue restaurants said they wanted to show their appreciation for officers who put their lives on the line each day to protect the citizenry. The offer is valid for any officer who dines in the restaurant on Friday either in uniform or with a picture ID, as KSAT reported.

The special offer comes the day after two officers were shot as they approached a pair of suspects along the 200 block of West Evergreen Street near San Antonio College, just west of downtown. Officer Miguel Moreno succumbed to his injuries Friday morning after being shot in the head. His partner, Julio Cavazos, was shot in the stomach but is expected to survive.
