City Of San Antonio: City Provides Update On Response To Winter Conditions
Temperatures are expected to warm up to mid-50s tomorrow and there is no rain in the forecast.

SAN ANTONIO (January 2, 2022) – The National Weather Service forecasts overnight temperatures in the low 26 to 27 degrees at the San Antonio International Airport, with some low-lying spots hitting low to mid 20’s by early Monday morning. Temperatures are expected to warm up to mid-50s tomorrow and there is no rain in the forecast.
With another freeze overnight, residents should continue to take proper precautions by remembering the Four Ps: People, Pets, Plants and Pipes.

- People: Keep warm and dress in layers. Check on your elderly family or neighbors.
- Pets: Bring pets inside to keep them safe and healthy.
- Plants: Bring potted plants inside. Cover outdoor plants with cloth fabric.
- Pipes: cover outdoor pipes and allow faucets to slowly drip to prevent them from freezing.
Warming Centers
Unsheltered Population
Local nonprofit partners still have capacity at their shelters and continue to practice COVID mitigation protocols, including social distancing and mask wearing where feasible. Travis Park Church is open during the day today for warming, meals and services. Corazon Ministries will be open all day tomorrow. The City will continue to conduct outreach efforts through Monday.
Tenants and Homeowners
Weather conditions are not forecasted to worsen. At this point, there are no plans to open warming centers.
Animal Care Services
Pets should be brought indoors from the cold. Residents who notice pets being left out without proper care, or any pet in need, should call the City’s Customer Service representative at 3-1-1 or by visiting the website at saacs.info/311. Animal Care Officers will be on patrol for any violations. ACS Officers will practice a zero tolerance and will cite/impound for violations.
Roads and Traffic Infrastructure
The Public Works Department reports no major issues with traffic infrastructure. The Police and Public Works Departments remain prepared to activate the City’s Ice Plan, in coordination with TxDOT, should precipitation occur.
311 Customer Service
311 will continue to operate today through midnight.
