SAN ANTONIO (August 27, 2021) – Two suicide bombers and a gunman attacked an access route to the international airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Thursday afternoon resulting in the loss of 13 American lives. The following statement is in response to that tragedy:

“This is a solemn day and an absolutely devastating loss for our country. I am deeply saddened by the 13 American lives we lost yesterday in Kabul. The ten marines, two soldiers, and sailor made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn this colossal loss. As evacuation efforts continue in Afghanistan, we pray that all are able to return home safely and without harm.”
