SAN ANTONIO (August 24, 2021) –The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO), which is charged with coordinating a regional transportation planning process, has approved two major mobility projects totaling $15.6 million for Council District 6 (D6).

The projects include $13.5 million for much needed road and sidewalk improvements along Old Highway 90/Enrique Barrera Parkway and $2.1 million for a bicycle and pedestrian shared pathway along Pinn Rd.

“The vision for D6, as a template for the rest of the city, is to design a transportation and mobility grid that gives people options for safe and reliable movement. The City of San Antonio will benefit greatly from these mobility projects,” said D6 Councilwoman and AAMPO chair-elect Cabello Havrda. “These funds are an important step toward the realization of that vision. Together they will enhance our mobility options, taking multi-modal and environmental considerations into account.”

In total, the AAMPO Transportation Policy Board approved $376 million for 36 projects in Bexar, Comal and Guadalupe Counties. The projects green-lighted by the AAMPO Policy Board will undergo a 5 step development process and be ready to break ground in October of 2022.
