SAN ANTONIO (September 9, 2021) — Today, Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran released this statement on the anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001:

“This week marks the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon which changed life in the United States forever. To this day, the images we witnessed on the TV lead us to grieve and remember the thousands of men and women who lost their lives in an instant on September 11, 2001.

Twenty years ago, America’s liberty was put to the test, and we persevered. While threats continue to rise against our democracy, let us all continue to learn from this day. Let us stay united and show the world that our democracy is a sacred gift that we shall cherish forever. Today, we honor all the heroes and their families.”
