“San Antonio is home to one of the largest Martin Luther King Jr. marches in the nation. While the pandemic has prevented us from gathering in person to honor Dr. King’s legacy, our commitment to the community remains,” said City Manager Erik Walsh. “Throughout this entire response, we’ve focused on equity – making sure vaccines and testing are where they are most needed. I want to thank the MLK Commission for their tireless work to honor Dr. King, no matter how trying these times are. I encourage any residents, who need to get vaccinated or tested, to join us at this pop-up event.”

“The MLK Commission is partnering with the City of San Antonio to host this vaccine and testing pop-up clinic as part of efforts to get our residents vaccinated so that they and their loved ones are protected from COVID-19,” said MLK Commission Chair Renee Watson.

Metro Health will offer the Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and flu vaccines. H-E-B $100 gift card incentives are available to individuals completing their vaccine series.

As a reminder, vaccine eligibility is as follows:
• Pfizer, ages 5 and older
• Moderna, ages 18 and older
• Johnson & Johnson, ages 18 and older

Booster eligibility is as follows:
• Pfizer, ages 12 and older after 5 months since initial vaccine series
• Moderna, ages 18 and older after 5 months since initial vaccine series
• Johnson & Johnson, ages 18 and older after 2 months since single dose vaccine

Metro Health is now offering the Pfizer COVID-19 booster to individuals, ages 12-15, following recent recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Because of the highly contagious Omicron variant, Metro Heath encourages individuals to get vaccinated as soon as possible, and, if you are eligible, get a booster for extra protection. In addition, if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, get tested. If you are sick, stay home.
