- CPS Energy recently sold its former downtown San Antonio headquarters to Blueprint Hospitality hotel developer, which specializes in renovating old and distressed buildings. The company bought the property for $19 million and plans to convert it into a hotel. "Final plans for the site located at 145 Navarro St., such as the new hotel's name, number of rooms and opening date have yet to be released." For more information, visit: (San Antonio Current)
- San Antonio filmmakers Mark Lee Walley and Angela Guerra Walley, husband and wife team "best known for short films on SA visual artists," will be "featured in the sixth episode of the 52nd season of Sesame Street" today, Thursday, Jan. 6 on the HBO Max and PBS Kids apps. Angela Guerra Walley said, "I play a farmer who welcomes Cookie Monster's foodie truck to the watermelon farm and explains how watermelons are grown! - With the cold weather coming and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, you may be spending more time at home. To help beat those boredom blues, BiblioTech: Bexar County's All-Digital Public Library has lots of activities this new year for young and old alike. On CloudLibrary and Hoopla, you'll find ebooks and audiobooks as well as "different kinds of hobbies you and your kids can get into on CloudLibrary's featured page and Hoopla's National Hobby Month collection." - As the cold weather arrives, the City of San Antonio urges all citizens to prepare for the upcoming winter conditions by keeping in mind the four Ps: People, Pets, Plants & Pipes. People should wear warm clothing and layers, and should check on elderly family or neighbors. Pets should be brought inside the house. Plants in pots should be brought inside and outdoor plants covered with cloth. Pipes should be covered, and faucets allowed to slowly drip to prevent them from freezing.
