📰 News we're reading

• San Antonio is positioning itself as NASA's lunar construction hub (sanantonioreport.org) — San Antonio companies and universities are becoming key partners in NASA's Artemis lunar program, with local firm Astroport developing brick-making robots and SwRI planning a large lunar testing yard. UTSA, St. Mary's, and the WEX Foundation are also deeply involved, potentially creating new high-tech jobs and STEM opportunities that could keep more young talent in San Antonio.

• Here's a first look at how the new San Antonio airport terminal is coming along (tpr.org) — San Antonio's new Terminal C at the international airport has reached its halfway construction milestone, with leaders signing a ceremonial beam before next week's topping-off. The $1.7 billion project will double the airport's size, add 18 gates, lounges, and a huge food court, and is on schedule for a 2028 opening, even as it drives a notable share of the city's growing budget.

• Audiologists May Be an Untapped Line of Defense Against Skin Cancer (scienmag.com) — Audiologists at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System and UT Health San Antonio significantly improved their ability to spot possible skin cancers on patients' ears after a brief training session. For San Antonio residents, especially veterans with heavy sun exposure, this research suggests local hearing specialists could become an important early-warning layer against dangerous ear lesions and help speed referrals to dermatology.
