As classes start, thousands more students gone from San Antonio public schools (star-telegram.com) — San Antonio-area public schools, especially South San Antonio ISD, are losing thousands of students, shrinking budgets and forcing staff cuts and campus shifts that directly affect local families. Districts across the city are competing with vouchers, charters, and private schools while expanding Pre-K and recruiting outside students to keep classrooms full and programs running.
   

2. Santikos celebrates 115 years of the movies in San Antonio (mysanantonio.com) — Santikos Entertainment is marking 115 years in San Antonio with plans for two huge new theater-anchored developments, one off Highway 281 on the Far Northside and another at Potranco Road and Highway 211 on the Far Westside. Leaders say these projects will mix movies, dining, shopping, and games, aiming to create major new hangout destinations for local residents.
   

3. Crime Stoppers searching for suspects in 2018 murder of Herion Chase, up to $5000 reward (news4sanantonio.com) — San Antonio police and Crime Stoppers are renewing their call for help solving the 2018 killing of 44-year-old Herion Chase, who was shot outside Big Cassel Smoke House on the Northeast Side. Investigators are still seeking two suspects who fled in a white vehicle, and are offering up to $5,000 for tips that directly lead to an arrest.
   

4. Study ranks San Antonio International Airport high for ease of passenger pick-up (star-telegram.com) — If you're picking someone up at San Antonio International Airport, a new study says you've got it easier than at most major U.S. airports, ranking SAT fourth overall for pickup convenience. Lower congestion, a nearby cell phone lot, and short taxi-in times all helped the Alamo City's airport score well, even though flight reliability was only average.
   

5. VIA earns high marks for customer service in national ranking (expressnews.com) — San Antonio's VIA Metropolitan Transit just ranked first nationwide for customer experience and financial stability, underscoring improvements riders are already seeing. VIA's Better Bus Plan aims for buses at least every 30 minutes citywide during peak hours, promising more reliable commutes and shorter waits for residents who depend on public transit.
