Restore Education Receives $25,000 Donation Through Spectrum Community Center Assist Program

Spectrum announced Restore Education has received a $25,000 donation through Spectrum Community Center Assist (SCCA), the company’s philanthropic initiative to revitalize local community centers and invest in job training programs in underserved rural and urban neighborhoods where Spectrum operates. This is the fourth award that Spectrum has awarded the nonprofit over the last four years, bringing the company’s total monetary contribution to date to $175,000 and the overall in-kind contribution to more than $250,000.

Spectrum celebrated the partnership on Thursday, April 9, at the nonprofit’s career fair held at their East San Antonio location. Spectrum along with dozens of other employers hosted a hiring booth at the event where Spectrum presented Restore Education with a $25,000 check.

Restore Education will use the funds to bolster their educational development programs in the San Antonio area. As part of Spectrum’s donations, the nonprofit created the Spectrum Training and Technology Center where staff can offer a space for their students to attend lessons and complete any digital needs. Additionally, because broadband is a critical component of a community center’s infrastructure, Spectrum continues to provide the nonprofit its advanced 1 gigabit-per-second internet service, for the life of the program.

“This long-term partnership we have created with Restore Education has made a real difference in the lives of local residents by giving them the skills and tools they need to reach their educational goals and improve their economic situation,” said Rahman Khan, Group Vice President, Community Impact for Charter Communications, which operates the Spectrum brand of connectivity services.

Spectrum launched Spectrum Community Center Assist in 2021, investing in the community center’s job training efforts with cash grants and in-kind contributions, improving physical classroom spaces, sponsoring rebuilding events with volunteers to repair and enhance the physical buildings, and providing new equipment, including laptops and furniture.
