San Antonio (August 31, 2021) – The pandemic forced several airlines to suspend service to some of its markets and as the demand for travel continues to pick up some of those carriers are resuming service to San Antonio International Airport (SAT).
Next month, United Airlines will resume nonstop service to both Newark Liberty International Airport serving the New York metro area and San Francisco International Airport. This service provides SAT travelers with another option for connectivity through these important hubs.
Nonstop service to Newark will resume on September 8th with daily service on a 126 seat Airbus A319. Service will increase to twice daily by the end of October. United will join American Airlines who resumed its nonstop service to nearby JFK Airport in August. Delta Air Lines is scheduled to resume its nonstop service to JFK on November 7th and new nonstop service to JFK and Boston will start on October 31st on JetBlue Airways.
Travelers booking trips to San Francisco from SAT will also have more options. United will resume flying its 76-passenger E-175 aircraft to the destination 6 times weekly in September. Service is scheduled to increase in October to daily.
“The resumption of flights to these markets represent an important milestone in the recovery of travel throughout San Antonio’s route map. Even more resumptions will be seen on the flight schedule in October and November just in time for the holidays,” said Jesus H. Saenz, Jr. IAP, Director of Airports, San Antonio Airport System.
Southwest Airlines will include its frequency to El Paso, Dallas, New Orleans and begin seasonal flights to Colorado Springs in November. Sun Country will resume seasonal service to Las Vegas and Delta Air Lines will add flights to both Los Angeles and Minneapolis.
