• State parks hosting ruck hikes for veterans (elgincourier.com) — Veterans and families in Smithville are invited to join a monthlong mental health awareness ruck hike at Buescher State Park, held in partnership with nearby Bastrop State Park. Participants can walk with or without a weighted pack, are urged to bring water and snacks, and can explore free-entry park passports available to veterans and active-duty military members.

- Wild BOAR in La Reata Ranch?!
while driving my grandson to Smithville Junior High today 6:40 am I came upon a herd of about 20 wild boar here on La Reata Trail!! I think my days… (Nextdoor La Reata Ranch) - UPDATE: I just called the Bastrop non-emergency sheriff's office at 7:30 on Tuesday night and the second person who ran from the Sheriff has not been apprehended yet.
He is handcuffed but may have gotten them loose by now. He is Hispanic and I believe he has on a blue shirt and jeans. (Nextdoor Country Way)
