3 Teens Charged With Murder In Deadly South Austin Drug Deal

Police say Jalen Rey Veliz, Cesar Carlos and Tommy Lee Potter ambushed Christopher Morey, 19, while demanding his marijuana supply.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Three teenagers have been charged with capital murder in connection with a drug deal turned deadly on Tuesday.

Police responded to an apartment along the 412 E. William Cannon Drive near Interstate 35 at around 1:45 am. on Tuesday. There, they found Isaac Christopher Morey, 19, fatally shot after police said he had gone to the apartment to sell marijuana before being ambushed by three armed men demanding his merchandise.

Charged with murder were Jalen Rey Veliz, Cesar Carlos and Tommy Lee Potter, all 17 years old. Veliz and Carlo remained at large as of late Friday, police noted in a press advisory.

Potter and Carlos each have $750,000 bonds while bond for Veliz was put at $1 million.
