South Austin Blood Donors Eligible For Exclusive BBQ Party

Those donating through Jan. 31 — including at We Are Blood's South Austin site, 3100 W. Slaughter Lane — entered into drawing for big bash.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — We Are Blood is offering a chance to attend a donor-only party next month for those giving of their life-saving resource.

Any person 21 years and up who donates or attempts to donate blood through Jan. 31 can enter to win entry into the party to be staged at the 4th Tap Brewing Cooperative.

This offer for donors offering blood at any We Are Blood donations or mobile drives kicked off Monday, Jan. 8. We Are Blood officials will randomly select 50 winners to attend the party with their plus-one guests. Once there, the altruistic party guests will enjoy barbecue from LeRoy and Lewis along with live music from local favorites The Watters at a Feb. 24 party scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Make your appointment to donate today to ensure that we’ll have a spot ready and waiting for you, officials urge. Eligible donors must be in good health, at least 17 years old, and weigh at least 115 pounds (110 if donating platelets). For more information, to book an appointment at any of the three donation locations, or to view the mobile drive schedule, visit www.weareblood.org.

The promotion comes on the heels of a recent, urgent call for particular blood types in light of recent stock decreases. Donations scaled back during the holiday period as people traveled, having the effect of diminishing the level of needed supply. Read details below:
