Austin Police Seek Help In Identifying Woman Wanted In Connection To Bank Robbery

A woman handed the teller a note at the Chase Bank branch at 6600 S. Mopac before fleeing with an undetermined amount of cash.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect wanted in connection to a bank robbery on Thursday.

Just before noon on Jan. 26, the Chase Bank at 6600 S. Mopac was held up, police said. A female suspect presented a note to the teller and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said no weapon was displaced, and no injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a black female in her mid- to late 20s with a heavyset build. She was last seen wearing a red bandana on her head, sunglasses, a plaid shirt and tan pants with matching colored shoes and a yellow glow vest.

This case remains under investigation, police said. Anyone with information is urged to call the robbery tip line at (512) 974-5092 or Crime Stoppers at (512) 472-TIPS. Tipsters also can text “Tip 103” + your message to CRIMES. Those with tips leading to an arrest or charges being filed are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips also can submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.

While the new year is barely in its first month, this is the third robbery of 2017, accordin g to police. The two other robberies (or, more specifically, attempted robberies) were committed by the same suspect two days before. Read about those two by clicking here.

Still photos from surveillance camera footage was released by police in the hopes someone might recognize her and alert police as to her whereabouts.
