SOUTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Wednesday released more details related to the death of a pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle in South Austin earlier in the week.

The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, along the 4200 block of South Lamar Boulevard. Police determined a silver, 2011 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound when a pedestrian "...ran in front of the vehicle," investigators wrote in a press advisory. The pedestrian was running eastbound across South Lamar from the Brodie Oaks shopping center but not within the crosswalk, police added.

After being struck, the pedestrian, an unidentified male, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died a short time later. Police noted the driver of the Toyota Corolla stayed at the scene cooperated, and likely will not face charges.
