Police Make Arrest In South Austin Stabbing Along South Congress Avenue

A woman in her 40s was taken to the hospital after the late-night stabbing, but died of her injuries at the hospital.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday said a suspect was in custody in connection to the stabbing death of a woman in South Austin over the weekend.

Police were called to the 2700 block of South Congress Avenue on Sunday after a call about a stabbing around 10:40 p.m., according to the Austin-American Statesman. Austin-Travis EMS officials later said the victim was a woman in her 40s.

The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. A suspect was taken into custody and charges are now pending, the newspaper reported. The name of the suspect has not yet been released.

This stabbing incident was the second violent death in South Austin that occurred the same day. Ten hours earlier, a man was arrested for shooting his wife in the 4500 block of Walton Heath Circle.
