“Their commitment to bring approximately 1,000 full-time jobs, supported by their unique employee incentive program for career advancement outside of the company, shows a significant long-term commitment to help create a diverse and sustainable local economy, which benefits everyone in the county,” Duhon said in a press release.

Amazon is currently building its first Houston area fulfillment center in the Pinto Business Park in Spring, as well as another in the Dallas area suburb of Coppell.

In June, the Harris County Commissioners Court approved a deal to reduce Amazon’s taxes for the $136 million facility to 65 percent for 10 years.

Meanwhile, other Amazon fulfillment centers are located in employ nearly 10,000 Texans in Haslet, Dallas, Fort Worth, Schertz and San Marcos.
