Katy ISD School Board Approves Rezoning Changes for Six Campuses
District is planning to notify parents in January if their child will be affected by the changes.

KATY, TX -- The Katy ISD Board of Trustee approved new attendance boundaries for the 2017-2018 school year that will affect students in six Katy ISD schools.
Those affected campuses are Wolman Elementary School, Katy Elementary School, Katy Junior High School, McDonald Junior High School, Katy High School and Morton Ranch High School.
Katy ISD is quickly closing in on 75,000 students and one of the largest and fastest growing school districts in Greater Houston.

In a statement issued in November, the district said that it considers those campuses to be overcrowded and that the addition of the two elementary schools and the new high school next school year will help balance those enrollment numbers.
Katy Elementary, which has an enrollment capacity of 643 students, will have 804 students enrolled in 2017, which is projected to increase to 891 in 2018 and 956 by 2019.
Wolman Elementary has a capacity of 1,030 students , and is projected to have 1,4851 in 2017, and more than 1,700 by 2019.

Katy High School, one of the oldest in Katy ISD is in more dire straits with a capacity of 3,000 and a projected 2017 enrollment of more than 3,700 and 4,376 by 2019.
The plan is for the new Bryant Elementary to serve students in southwest Katy; and the new Stockdick Junior High and Paetow High to serve northwest Katy.
Meanwhile, families with children enrolled in the affected campuses will be notified in January, district officials said Monday.
