Katy Man Allegedly Killed His Wife For Infidelity

Man allegedly killed wife with with fireplace poker, screwdriver and told sons she was cheating on him.

KATY, TX -- A Katy man who is accused of stabbing his wife to death with a screwdriver and a fireplace poker appeared in court Monday.

Rene Jaime, 52, was arrested at his home on Jan. 5 in the 22400 block of Coriander Drive after police were called to the home for a disturbance and found Mary Jaime’s body with the fireplace poker still in her neck.

Prosecutors said that Jaime had been on a trip to European and that once he returned, attacked his wife while their two sons, ages 13 and 15, were in the house.

According to court documents, Jaime suspected his wife was having an affair, and that after he allegedly killed her, he called 9-1-1 to report the disturbance to police.

Prosecutors said after Jaime called 9-1-1, he told his sons that his wife had been cheating on him and gave them an electronic storage device that he said had proof their mother was cheating on him.

Jaime is in the Harris County Jail, in lieu of $50,000 bond.
