Texas National Guard Conducts Flood Rescue Operations
Days of immensely heavy rain have caused floods all over the southern areas of Texas, and National Guard troops are joining rescue efforts.

SOUTH TEXAS — The Texas National Guard is working with state, local, and federal authorities to conduct emergency rescue operations in South Texas, where floods have ravaged communities all over. Boats, vehicles equipped with high-water capabilities and aviation assets are in use, the Texas Military Department said.
Images show National Guard members repelling from helicopters, helping citizens into raised truck beds and directing traffic. Texas Game Wardens also have been providing assistance to those affected by the flooding.
