Victoria East looks to build from Friday's offensive explosion (victoriaadvocate.com) — Victoria East's football team heads into Friday's district road game riding a record-setting offensive performance, highlighted by sophomore quarterback Xavier Sanchez's six first-half touchdown passes. With Sanchez now the likely starter and former quarterback Xavier Baladez thriving at receiver, coaches say the Titans' offense is finally clicking as they prepare for South Houston's dual-threat quarterback and disruptive defensive line.
   

5. Texas offers free college applications Oct. 12-18 (crossroadstoday.com) — Starting Oct. 12, Texas residents can apply to public colleges and universities without paying application fees, and Victoria College staff are ready to help local students take advantage. By applying through ApplyTexas during Free College Application Week, first-time, transfer, and returning students can submit multiple applications at no cost while getting advising and financial aid guidance in Victoria.
