TxDOT proposes Business US Highway 77 makeover with shared-use path in Waco (kxxv.com) — Business US Highway 77 in Waco may soon be transformed into a more pedestrian- and bike-friendly urban boulevard, and TxDOT is asking for your input. A public meeting at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Thursday at 5:30 p.m., plus an online option, lets Waco residents review plans and submit comments through September 25.
   

2. Water-line break adds to construction woes for downtown Waco tea shop (kwtx.com) — A water-line break near Hotel Herringbone forced several downtown Waco businesses, including Zuke's Tea Bar, to close temporarily, compounding months of disruption from South Fourth Street quiet-zone construction. Owners say revenue is down and customers struggle with parking and access, but Zuke's remains open while the street is scheduled to reopen October 5.
   

3. Waco homicide suspect arrested, charged with murder (kcentv.com) — Waco residents are being informed that police, with U.S. Marshals' help, have arrested 20-year-old Tyrese Clark in connection with a 2025 homicide on North Ninth Street. The case involved two shooting victims and marked Waco's eighth homicide that year. Authorities say Clark is charged with murder, though no further details about the investigation have been released yet.
   

4. Waco mental health professional charged in alleged sexual assault of autistic patient (kwtx.com) — A nurse practitioner who treated patients at a Waco mental health clinic is free on bond after being charged with sexually assaulting an autistic patient under his care. Robinson police allege he exploited the woman's emotional dependency and prior trauma after initially treating her at Mind Body Optimization on Sanger Avenue. The case emerged after the patient disclosed the relationship to another therapist.
   

5. No. 20 Baylor volleyball quickly turns focus to Georgia Tech, No. 1 Nebraska (fox44news.com) — Baylor volleyball fans in Waco can look ahead to a tough home stretch as the No. 20 Bears quickly regroup from their first loss to face undefeated Georgia Tech on Thursday and top-ranked Nebraska on Friday. Coaches and players say they've intensified practice to improve consistency and serving. The two-night run will test Baylor's depth, focus, and response under pressure.
