1. ‘Faith Over Fear' (community-news.com) — Weatherford residents recently rallied around longtime police dispatcher Nikki Smith, raising $76,000 at a Parker County Sheriff’s Posse fundraiser to help with her pancreatic cancer treatment. Smith, who has served Weatherford law enforcement for nearly three decades, continues working, sharing her “Faith Over Fear” journey online, and leaning on her community and faith as she navigates ongoing care and future treatment options.
   

2. Council OKs joining Public Utility Agency (community-news.com) — A new regional water effort that includes Weatherford moved forward as Hudson Oaks voted to join the proposed Parker County Public Utility Agency, aimed at securing long-term water supplies. While Hudson Oaks faces no immediate shortages, leaders say early participation lowers future costs, and the city also approved a conservative 2026-27 budget that keeps services and staffing competitive as the area grows.
   

3. TCA hosts, wins first meet (community-news.com) — Local runners from Weatherford Christian School held their own against much larger programs, finishing ninth in a 28-team boys field at Trinity Christian Academy’s first hosted cross country meet. Weatherford Christian’s boys and lone girl runner posted solid times and now look ahead to upcoming invitationals in White Settlement and Denton that area families may want to attend or support.
   

4. Governor Abbott Announces Workforce Pell Approval, $10.4 Million Community College Grant (texas.gov) — Weatherford College students will soon be able to use new federal Workforce Pell aid for short-term training in HVAC and machining, thanks to a U.S. Department of Education approval and a $10.4 million federal grant to Texas community colleges. The programs are designed to quickly prepare Weatherford-area residents for high-demand, better-paying technical jobs without committing to long degree paths.
