• Willis ISD records changes in math and reading categories for spring STAAR (communityimpact.com) — Willis ISD’s latest STAAR scores show some worrying dips in elementary and seventh-grade math and reading, even as the district matches state results in several areas. One bright spot: high school biology, where Willis students slightly outperformed the statewide average. Parents may want to pay close attention to how the district responds in lower grades. 
• Indictment sheds light on criminal charges against former Liberty officer (bluebonnetnews.com) — A former Liberty police officer who lives in Willis has been indicted on charges of Official Oppression and Indecent Assault tied to alleged misconduct while on duty in November 2025. Texas Rangers investigated after a complaint, and the officer later resigned; he is now jailed in Liberty County without bond as the case moves forward.
• Two Fatal Accidents in Troop E over the Weekend (ground.news) — A 60-year-old man from Willis died Friday when his tractor-trailer left I-55 in Missouri, struck a guardrail and bridge, then went airborne into an embankment. The crash was one of two weekend fatalities reported by Missouri authorities, and may impact friends or family here at home who knew the driver.
