Veterans Day 2017: Things To Do In The Houston Area This Weekend

HOUSTON, TX — What’s happening in Houston this Veterans Day Weekend?

That’s the question many are asking, since a scheduling conflict caused the cancellation of the downtown Veterans Day Parade this year.

The city will honor local veterans with its Annual Houston Salutes Veterans Day and 9/11 Heroes Run: The event starts at 8 a.m. Saturday with the 9/11 Heroes Run, which was canceled on Sept. 11 this year because of Hurricane Harvey. The Veterans Day Ceremony starts at 10 a.m. on the steps of City Hall.

Nutcracker Market at NRG Center |Houston|All Weekend|Get an early start on the Christmas shopping season at this annual market place. Texas Renaissance Festival|Todd Mission,TX | Saturday and Sunday| Lord’s, Ladies, Dukes and Duchess...The Texas RenFest is still happening and will be every weekend until the weekend after the big turkey day. Enter the village gates for shopping, entertainment, wine tasting, and a feast fit for a King. This weekend’s theme is Heroes and Villains. Tickets start at $15. Gates Open 9am to 8pm both days. 22nd Annual Children’s Festival|The Woodlands, TX| Saturday and Sunday|Take a safari adventure in The Woodlands! This annual festival happens at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Harvest Fest at Harvest Green|Richmond, TX | Come and get your fall festival fix this weekend at Richmond’s Harvest Green. Events happening include pumpkin carving, food trucks, farmers market, tours of the farm and live music. Saturday 11am to 3pm.-FREE

Holiday at Moody Gardens| Galveston, TX| Get a jump on the holidays and start getting into the Christmas spirit a little early. Ice Land, the Festival of Lights and Cirque Joyeux Noel are just some of the holiday attractions beginning at Moody Gardens this weekend and running until Jan. 7.
