Woodlands Man Held In Dominican Prison On Drug Charges Is Freed
Larry Davis, who'd leased his boat to a Honduran businessman in 2016, was charged with international narcotics trafficking

(Updated) THE WOODLANDS, TX β A Woodlands dad who was freed after spending a year Dominican prison on international narcotics trafficking chargescame home Friday night.
Larry Davis, 44, who was accused of using a ship he'd leased to a Honduran businessman in early 2016 to smuggle illicit drugs into the Dominican Republic, was greeted by family and friends at Bush Intercontinental Airport Friday night. "I just thank God, thank God that I live in the United States of America and how much freedom we have," Davis said.

On Tuesday, Davis was found not guilty by a three judge panel and is expected to be released from prison within the next two days, according to a KTRK report.

Davis' attorney Sean Buckley said there is a chance that the state could appeal the not guuilty ruling, but an appeal is unlikely, KPRC reported.
Davis was jailed in March 2016 after spending several days in Santo Domingo trying to meet with Dominican officials who'd detained his ship for inspection where authorities allegedly found narcotics.
Sen. John Cornyn and U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady were among local leaders who worked through the State Department to try and secure Davis' release from prison.
Brady issued a brief statement on Davis release on Tuesday.
β I couldnβt be more happy to learn that Larry Davis will soon be returning home to the Woodlands and that this long nightmare for him, his wife Stacy and their children and his friends and supporters is finally over.β
Davis is expected to immediately fly home upon his release.
